Product Description

Unknown Pleasures brings to mind a stroll down a cold street in Manchester, England listening to Joy Division, sipping on a warm cup of London Fog. The fragrance opens up with the smooth sweetness of honey and Earl Grey tea, with a zing of lemon. It dries down to a cozy vanilla, soft tonka bean and waffle cone base, sure to make any gourmand lover smile.

NOTES: Earl Grey tea, lemon, bergamot, honeycomb, tonka bean, caramel, vanilla and waffle cone

  1. Good Enough to Eat 4 Star Review

Posted by on 7th Oct 2022

At first I wasn't crazy about the scent: That may be because I had also gotten a sample of Followed which is so strong it actually overpowered my nose when I took the samples out of the package.
Once I separated them, it could shine all on its own. It's an interesting scent that doesn't set off my migraines at all. That alone might make me buy the full bottle.

  2. Lemony Goodness 4 Star Review

Posted by on 3rd Jan 2021

A nice lemon gourmand that is not cloyingly sweet. Tea is a nice note here that makes it quite interesting. Staying power seems to be pretty good and bottle is a nice looker! My first kerosene and I am intrigued to try many others.

  3. Skin chemistry dependent 4 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Dec 2020

Smells horribly of burnt chemical sugar on me, smells like a gorgeous lemony sweet aura on my friend. Try before you buy.

  4. Lemon Bar goodness 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Oct 2020

This opens up with a blast of lemon bar/pastry accord. It's sweet and decadent with the citrus providing the right amount of tartness. On the side you have nuisances of earl grey tea.

When it dries down it morphs into a vanilla and caramel ambery skin scent which is definitely long lasting.

also 5/5 customer service to the indiescent team for accomodating my sample request and for holding my item when there was shipping problems with the forwarder I was using.

  5. UNKNOWN PLEASURES 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Jan 2019

While my first visit with this perfume was a bit hesitant and underwhelmed due to the lack of Earl Grey contrary to the notes that were given, the more I had it the more I've fallen in love with it.

To me, I would describe it as a lovely tart lemon curd topped with Movenpick's Vanilla and Caramel ice cream, and dries down to a very creamy and honeyed lemon meringue pie with a dollop of caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream.

It also has amazing silage, and lasting power, and other people will definitely be able to smell you too. On my skin, it fades in about 5 hours, but on my clothes (where I prefer to spray) it lasts days, to the point where I've worn a scarf for a whole week and still got whiffs of the smell.

I absolutely love this now, though I wish it came in a smaller bottle because you really don't need that much and it'll take forever to use up!

  6. What's left to say? 4 Star Review

It's delicious through and through. I'll allow my peers to expound further

  7. A king of gourmands 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Oct 2018

You could waste your time reading comments, or cut to the chase and get a bottle. I'd recommend the latter!

  8. UNKNOWN PLEASURES 4 Star Review

Posted by on 2nd Sep 2018

It opens very strongly, smells more like a key lime pie, It is much more tart than I imagine lemon to be, imagine like honey and lime/lemon zest.
After the dry down isn't much Earl Grey to me, but I can detect very strong creamy, almost coconut-y undertones under the honey and lemon.

In comparison to the description, it really smells more like a very tart artificial lemon, with a hint of honey and subtle notes of vanilla and caramel every so often.
It is a very sweet perfume, and I am a big fan of gourmand, but personally disappointed that the Earl Grey and bergamot vanilla aren't the strongest notes.

  9. FINALLY HAD TO GET A FULL BOTTLE of this yellow lemon sweet sunshine. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Feb 2017

I believe I have ordered three or four samples of Kerosene's Unknown Pleasures from IndieScents. This time, though, I had to purchase a full bottle. I am head-over-heels in love with this one. It not only puts a smile on my face, it does this with everyone around me. I have been asked numerous times what I am wearing when I'm in Unknown Pleasure. Glad to have Kerosene's UP in my collection. Top-notch juice!

  10. Sunshine on a Cloudy Day 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Nov 2016

Unknown Pleasures may be my favorite Kerosene fragrance. It's a lovely and uplifting gourmand that alternates between smelling like lemonade and waffles. I catch occasional whiffs of tea, but it quickly drifts away. With the days getting colder, I've been trying to wear cheerful scents.

This perfume is the equivalent of sunshine, rainbows and happiness. There's citrus, sugar and pastries, but it's never offensive and somehow radiates warmth throughout wear. A delightful sensory experience!

  11. Sophisticated simplicity 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Aug 2016

This line of perfume amazes me. All of them are unique yet very wearable. I love this combination of tea, bergamot and lemon and feel it is a perfect scent for those days when you want simply to smell just downright fabulous. While it is a lighter scent it still has so much presence. This is an artistic blend of notes which produces a sweet yet not sugary, complex but very wearable, light but not insignificant, gorgeous perfume. Love every one of the perfumes I have sampled so far.

  12. So sweet. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Aug 2016

Lemon jelly beans and artificially flavored lemon cake. So very sweet and sugary. Nice when I am in the mood for that sort of sugarbomb.

  13. Earl Grey and biscuits 3 Star Review

Posted by on 9th Jun 2016

I like this scent, but it's not something I would choose to wear regularly. The bergamot and lemon are nice and bright on the opening, and the drydown is sweet and bready, but not heavy. I'm glad I got to try it, but I wouldn't purchase a full size.

  14. SMILING SWEET LEMON YELLOW SUNSHINE ! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 27th Apr 2016

An easy to wear Niche fragrance. When you wear this, you'll bring smiles to those around you. Well worth a sample testing .

  15. Gorgeous! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Nov 2015

This is just lovely. It starts with an Earl Grey opening (heavy on the Bergamot), then becomes a delightful caramel.

Its lasting power is in the order of about 4 hours on me (which I wish was longer, since the dry-down is heavenly) and its sillage is on the lighter side (I like my perfumes LOUD, so I wish this were stronger).

  16. cant miss 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Sep 2015

you will love this so much you will take it to bed with you.

  17. Perfection in a bottle. 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Aug 2015

This experience begins with a tangy, well-balanced blast of Lemon and Bergamot. Within 15 minutes the citrus notes begin to fade revealing a heavenly sweetness of caramel, honeycomb and Real Grey Tea lying underneath. The layering and juxtopostioning of the lemon, caramel and tea is pure genius and well executed.
The Vanilla is not a cheap variety nor is it ever forefront but seems to fill in gaps during the transition between the caramel/honeycomb/Tea combination and the astonishing Waffle Cone note that comes on strong sometime during the second hour of this journey. I believe the The Waffle Cone note is unique to this fragrance and is the very definition of gourmand.
I suspect this fragrance is balanced more towards feminine tastes but I simply don't care. In fact, I don't care what other people may feel about this cologne, I would sooner give up a friend than give up this fragrance.

Unknown Pleasures is one of the most remarkable parfums I've ever experienced. I purchased a bottle the same day I received the sample from Indiescents. and have subsequently ordered another because I don't relish the prospect of running out.

  18. yummy to the end! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 30th Mar 2015

I have had this perfume on my wish list since I got a sample of it. The scent is like a paradox, citrus, sweet, drying with a hint of caramel. This sounds super sweet, but it stops short of being a sugary mess.
Since receiving the perfume I just can't stop, it's addictive. Kerosene perfumes are unique and strong, waiting to buy my next one.

  19. Lemon plus tea plus waffle cone=yum 5 Star Review

This fragrance is absolutely delicious. It smells like nothing else in my collection. I love it.

  20. Fell in love <3 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Jul 2014

I love the name and the fragrance.
    So sweet and gourmand.
The lemon note reminds me cake called "madeleine"
Rare fragrance, very hard to find in France so thanks to Indie Scents :-)
