The Raw Spirit brand was inspired by Australian photographer Russell James' collaborative art project, Nomad Two Worlds, which explores the clash of ancient and modern cultures and celebrates the richness of Indigenous and marginalized communities around the world.

Raw Spirit is the continuation of a journey that has taken James and his team all over the world, from the Australian outback, to the mountains of Haiti, to the Florida Everglades. It’s a brand born out of experiencing the unique spirits of some of the world’s oldest communities.

The team works with Indigenous and marginalized communities, either directly or though partnerships, to sustainably source natural ingredients for the Raw Spirit fragrances.

Raw Spirit began as a collaboration with Dr Richard Walley, artist and respected spokesperson of Western Australia's Nyoogar people. With Dr Walley's support and guidance, Raw Spirit brought its first fragrance oil, Fire Tree, to market in 2012, a product inspired by 20,000 years of Indigenous knowledge of the Fire Tree's unique qualities.

In 2013, Raw Spirit began working with farming communities in Haiti, sustainably sourcing premium Haitian Vetiver.

More recently, collaborations with the Native American Chumash Indian Museum of California and The Seminole Tribe of Florida have continued the Raw Spirit journey.

Raw Spirit is about re-connecting with ourselves, with each other, and with nature. It is about unleashing the energy that is within each of us.
