    The Lion Cupboard

    by 4160Tuesdays

"I wrote a novel about someone who makes scents that remind her clients of happy times. I then set off making the ones I'd described in the book. So, when family and friends asked how the novel was going, I'd tell them about the perfume. My sister Ruth, who sings the way you hope angels do, just said, 'Make me the lion cupboard.' The lion cupboard is the Victorian carved cabinet where my dad kept his gloves, hats and scarves. He died in 2002, without time to say goodbye, and when Ruth visited the house, she would open the cupboard doors and breathe the scent of a hug from our dad. (Then my mother cleaned it out - and banished his things - because she found them too upsetting to live with.) So I knew exactly what my sister wanted. It took us three goes, and now we have it! So it's become the scent of the hug you'd get when you'd meet on the train station." - Sarah McCartney

Notes: Mint, citrus fruits, lavender, woods, helichrysum, aniseed, juniper berry, patchouli

    1. Quirky, creative and lovely 4 Star Review

The opening is full of distinctive notes – citrus, mint, chocolate, warm herbs, wood – that eventually meld together in a slightly powdery dry down. Lovely!

Reminds me of Old Spice cologne mixed with heavy and polished rosewood, and something like spicy myrrh. Spicy and powdery in the drydown. I can't pick out most of the notes listed on this site, but it smells very clove-like to me. Clove and dark rosewood with a powdery finish. A warm, spicy, woody fragrance.

    3. Most unusual scent 4 Star Review

The Lion Cupboard is a new experience for me: the first perfume I love wearing and then checking in on every ten mintes...for hours. It starts out weird and strange, a real attention-grabber. Then it softens and changes a dozen times. I'll leave it to others to describe the notes. I found the creator's description highly accurate. The Lion Cupboard. That old piece of furniture in the dining room.
But I have yet to wear take it out for an evening.

Strong notes of fruit, berries and slight aniseed. This is subtle with patchouli dry down. a nice all round perfume worth trying.
