They called it Jacomo: Ja for James, Co for Courtin and Mo to give the name a musical touch. Their Jacomo boutique soon became a hot spot for New York’s glitterati and jet setters.
Always passionate about the Arts, they discovered a new passion for perfumery. The first Jacomo perfume, the Eau Cendrée, was launched in 1970 in a beautiful bottle inspired by a sculpture Gérard saw in a New York museum. This noteworthy debut was later followed by the widely popular Silences and blockbuster success of iconic men’s fragrance Jacomo de Jacomo in the 80’s, which helped make Jacomo the famous Perfume House.
Now, in 2010, Jacomo makes its spectacular return to New York with the launch of Art Collection by Jacomo.
Jacomo renews its long standing love affair with the arts by beginning an intimate conversation between visual artists and perfume with the launch of Art Collection by Jacomo. Three very different artists from Jacomo’s private Art Collection were selected to work closely with perfumers to create a fragrance depicting an aromatic illustration of their specific artwork; each scent is named for its corresponding collection number.
