Product Description

Dark corners of a room seem to creep and reach out as the midnight clouds steal the last remaining shards of moonlight. Ruminating over this scent of mystery and nightfall, the spiritual fire you just went through drifts in the air, the spices of heartache linger on the skin. But you know morning will come, the darkness will subside, and the theory that everything remains dreadful will be smashed and broken. A new day will dawn...with the fragrant aromas of sandalwood, incense and tobacco reminding you of that which you overcame.

NOTES: Blood orange, tobacco, spices, vanilla bean, sandalwood, oud, incense

  1. Dark 4 Star Review

This perfume reminds me of when I happened upon a bonfire party in East Atlanta Village on Halloween. It's dark and mysterious and kind of smells like incense dipped in starter fluid. It lasts for a while and is one of my faves.

  2. Mind Sets BROKEN . 5 Star Review

When you start reading reviews, you might have sampled something previously that matches some of the notes listed in the fragrance you're considering. This might conjure a scent memory that could be a pleasant one, or not. Look at the notes listed here and in the description: incense, smoke and oud. You might have had a bad experience with this note combination. My first ever niche sample was Xerjoff's Zafars. I put a little on and gave it a whiff. To me, it smelled like a brick of cheese that had been put in a pair of works boots that had been worn for a week. So, that was enough of oud for me, along with niche and I went back to my Macy's. I did return to the world of niche and the next few samples I got were Mona's Cuir - cigarette ash - and, luckily, I got a sample of Jubilation XXV. So I got back into niche again. Let's take one description and one note that's listed: smoke and incense. Now, let's take two fragrances: Jeke and Avignon. Jeke is a smokehouse in the opening. Avignon is the Roman church. If you had sampled them and then read the descriptions, those two aromas, depending if you disliked them, might make you take a pass Broken Theories. That would be a big mistake. Here's why...
The citrus, vanilla and sandalwood are blended in such a manner that gives a soft ambered blanket to the smoke. The guiac wood/oud is never forward. You will notice wood slightly, but it has been westernized. The oud is there to add depth to the composition. Broken Theories is beautifully blended and breaks the notions of what wood and smoke and incense are supposed to smell like. I get good longevity and good sillage. Please sample this one.

  3. Unbelievable Incense 5 Star Review

Incense lovers, this is a must buy! Dark, burning, sensual. Incredibly long-lasting. Despite its darkness, surprisingly wearable and garners many compliments. Another love!

  4. Not for wimps!! 5 Star Review

I adore this perfume!! It's bold and deep and beautiful! It starts out with tobacco and musk with a deep woodys smell reminiscent of pipe smoke by a fire. But as it dries down the vanilla, spices and sandalwood come through to give that gently sweet fragrance with a hint of smoke. The layers and personality of this scent are amazing. Definitely not for wimps!!!

  5. Love and hate 4 Star Review

Kind of love and hate with this one, but overall good one, it starts with a nice aromatic very spicy tobacco, there are a bit of incense, vanilla, maybe a hint of an aroma chemical mimicking oud, note of blood orange comes and goes. So far so good, then in the middle a kind of cooking kind of spice pops up and ruins everything, luckily it disappears soon and you are left with very nice smokiness absolutely worth waiting for.

  6. Cool autumn evening 4 Star Review

Smoky spicy incense oriental with a cool, dark touch. The oud is barely detectable.

  7. Nice tobacco and incense. 4 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jun 2016

The tobacco is sticky-sweet (maple syrup type sweet at first) and there's a spiced, charred, smoky wood thing happening here that makes me think of bbq. After an hour, it loses the bbq glaze and burning wood and settles into a solid, good tobacco and ambery incense.
Sweet, earthy tobacco with a swirl of labdanum incense smoke. I really enjoy it once it settles into the drydown stage.
