Afrika Olifant stimulates hidden desires. The fragrance opens with frankincense and myrrh. As the animalic notes of castoreum and civet settle down, leather and oud dominate. Afrika-Olifant is a scent that is both timid and audacious at the same time...
NOTES: Ambergris, frankincense, myrrh, labdanum, castoreum, civet, leather, oud, muscone, civetone

At this price point, I think that there are much better animalic amber fragrances to be had (often for much cheaper). Afrika-Olifant is mostly a very powdery, ambery labdanum and a very sour, musky civet on my skin. I can smell hints of leather every once in a while, but it's drowning in the powder and sour musk (and I enjoy civet and castoreum normally, but they're not working for me in this blend).

Cheap artificial oud aromachemical used by so many makers, for example in Maison Francis Kurkdjian’s Oud Velvet, which was also huge disappointment, not because it is artificial, majority of oud fragrances use aromachemicals and there are some really good ones, but this must be the cheapest one in existence, there is nothing in it that even slightly resembles real oud notes.
There is also some leather, not much of musky and animal notes you may expect based on advertised pyramid.
It is all very synthetic, not a nice oudy, or musky/animalistic fragrance, not daring, interesting or wearable.
Only once the initially subdued resinous notes come to play does it become somewhat decent, but that underlying artificial oud remains annoying.

The opening was gorgeous, animalic musk similar to Musc Tonkin. Then developes into an almost horse-like note. Further development into what does smell like the African elephant exhibit at the zoo. I thoroughly enjoyed these levels then the oud came in and never left . Sillage is off the charts and longevity is 2 days! If you love oud you'll love this. Unfortunately I don't love oud.

Afrika Olifant is just stunning, never smelled anything like it!
Deep, rich, mysterious!
There are no empty words in the note list, every single note deliver.
Strong, but not loud. Just perfect!!!
My next purchase.

I hear reverberating beats of Carlos Santana on "Black Magic Woman" - I smell Afrika Olifant as piercing mystical incantation that weaves its path in and out of awareness. Frankincense and myrrh opens with a resinous mesmerizing incense that whirls a floral aspect and then dips into an earthy, unconscious, dark leather undertone that takes you down with castoreum, civet, leather, oud and musks. Musks, possibly deer musk to add the floral oud feel. This fragrance is very alluring, but also gets down to earth and is unrelenting in its fragrance. A stunning, very "on" scent. I can not wear something this powerful, but I would enjoy smelling it whenever I can.

This stunning fragrance is my favorite so far from the Nishane house. Animalic notes oozing at the top with myrrh and frankincense supporting along side with leather.
Projects like a beast within the first 4 hours then settles a bit but not too much. I enjoy wearing this in the summer although its more suitable for cooler months.
